Ifra Standards
IFRA (International Fragrance Association) certification helps ensure the safe and responsible use of fragrances in products. Founded in 1973, IFRA has consistently promoted the use of safe fragrances worldwide. .
IFRA standards are based on research, risk assessments and expert opinion. Their main objective is to reduce the risks associated with fragrance ingredients, ensuring that products are safe and environmentally friendly.
IFRA categories are important for those in the fragrance and cosmetics industry, providing guidance on the safe use of fragrance ingredients. The categorization system groups fragrances according to their potential risk of skin sensitization.
IFRA categories aim to ensure consumer safety by identifying ingredients that may cause skin irritation. Certain substances may cause allergies when they come into contact with the skin. IFRA categories set safe concentration limits for these ingredients in products. When using fragrance oils and essential oils, follow the IFRA maximum permitted use levels. The IFRA maximum use level is the maximum amount that can be used in a certain type of product without violating IFRA rules. It is not a recommendation on how much fragrance should be in a product for the best results. General usage recommendations for cosmetics and soap making can be found in the product information. However, if you want to change the amount, do not exceed the amount of fragrance allowed by IFRA standards.
