DHA self-tanner is a skin-friendly and harmless product that does not require sunlight for activation. It is a product made from wheat and rapeseed based on fermentation. Skin discoloration is visible within a few hours of applying the cream and lasts for 3-7 days. The brown complexion gradually dissipates with the removal of dead cells. The intensity of the brown shade depends on the number of applications and the concentration of DHA in the product.
How to use
- Recommended dosage: 1–7%
- Dissolve the DHA powder in a small amount of (floral) water and add it to the product in the final phase of preparation, at temperatures below 40 °C.
- Choice of emulsifier: The manufacturer recommends using non‑ionic emulsifiers (e.g., Olivem 1000), which improve the long‑term stability of DHA. Anionic emulsifiers should be avoided.
- DHA has a characteristic odor, which at higher percentages will also influence the scent of the final product.
- Optimal pH: 5.5–6.5
- Incompatible ingredients: AHA fruit acids, zinc oxide, iron oxides, titanium dioxide, aloe vera, cocamidopropyl betaine, magnesium stearate, anionic emulsifiers, collagen, urea, amino acids, proteins, organic sunscreens. High ethanol content may destabilize the product.
