The raw material for vegetable stearic acid is palm oil, the production of which has been followed by RSPO principles. Stearic acid is used to thicken and stabilize cosmetic products and increase viscosity. Stearic acid creates a protective layer on the surface of the skin, which helps retain moisture in the skin. As a co-emulsifier, stearic acid has an emulsion-stabilizing effect.
In creams with an emulsifier, stearic acid is added to the oil phase by melting it together with fats, waxes, and an emulsifier. Stearic acid melts approx. at 60°C.
Dosage: in creams 2-7% in solid butter, deodorants, and body butters 5-30%, in soap 5-15%.
