Lavender essential oil has a floral scent with herbal undertones. It blends well with a variety of citrus, spicy essential oils, and woodsy oils. With a variety of uses, lavender essential oil is antimicrobial, antioxidant, and antiseptic. Lavender oil is used in aromatherapy for its calming, stress-relieving, and sleep-promoting properties.
The raw material for the essential oil comes from the Balkan region. The essential oil, which is made by steam distillation, uses lavender flowers, leaves, and stems.
This essential oil is classified as a top note, it has a liquid consistency and is colorless.
Of the phytochemicals, linalool gives lavender its floral scent, while linalyl acetate gives it a sweet, fruity, and slightly citrusy aroma.
Essential oils are added to cosmetic products during the cooldown phase (at approximately 35-40 C), preferably at the end of the preparation, to reduce the evaporation of essential oils. For the same reason, finished products should be stored in closed packaging.
In melt and pour soap base, we recommend using a maximum of 2.5% essential oil by weight, in cold process soap 2-3.54% of the weight of soap fats, or approximately 1.5-2% of the total weight of the soap mixture.
In cosmetics, add essential oil up to 1% of the product weight (1 g per 100 g). For facial products, the amount should be kept even lower, below 0.5%. All fragrances should be excluded from eye area products to avoid irritation.
When adding essential oil to candles, follow the wax manufacturer's recommendations. For NatureWax C3 soy wax, the recommended dosage is up to 6% by weight, and for paraffin candles, 4% by weight.
