Coffee Cup Candles
Coffee cup candles give a new life to individual cups that have been left unused in the cupboard or to unique flea market finds.
You will need:
NatureWax C3 soy wax
Candlewick according to the diameter of the candle
Glass or metal jar for melting the candle wax
Pot for creating a water bath
Coffee cup for pouring the candle wax
When determining the amount of wax needed, keep in mind that approximately 165g of wax is needed for a 200ml candle.
When choosing a wick, it is important to know the diameter of the candle. The right thickness of the wick will not smoke and will burn with a moderate-sized flame. With too small a wick, the edges of the candle will remain unburned.
Our test results with NatureWaxC3 soy wax and Stabilo wicks are as follows:
Stabilo 8 is suitable for soy wax candles with a diameter of 4-5 cm.
Stabilo 14 is suitable for soy wax candles with a diameter of 5-6 cm.
Stabilo 16 is suitable for soy wax candles with a diameter of 5.5-6.5 cm.
Stabilo 18 is suitable for soy wax candles with a diameter of 6-7 cm.
Stabilo 20 is suitable for soy wax candles with a diameter of 6.5-7.5 cm.
Stabilo 24 is suitable for soy wax candles with a diameter of 7-8 cm.
Candle making:
1. To make a candle, first melt the wax. Put the wax in a glass or metal jar and place it in a pot of boiling water to melt.
2. To fix the wick, cut a cardboard disk with a diameter larger than the cup and make a hole in the center for the wick to pass through tightly.
3. Pour the melted wax into the cup. Place the disk on top of the cup so that the wick is in the center of the cup and the metal base reaches the bottom.
4. Let it solidify.
