Description

Keragreen Pillar 95 Rapseseed Wax, certified by Ecocert, is natural and free of additives. Since the wax does not contain additional components, it is more susceptible to higher temperatures and when using it, careful attention must be paid to the melting and pouring temperatures.

Technical characteristics and recommendations for use:

    • Melting point: +57–63 °C
    • Optimal fragrance oil content: 5–8%, maximum 10%
    • Recommended temperature for adding fragrance oil and colorant: +68°C
    • Recommended pouring temperature: +65 °C (larger candles may require a second pouring)
    • When working with small molds, such as for aroma wax, it's best to use lower temperatures. Heat the wax to 60 degrees and pour it into the mold once it cools to around 48 degrees.
    • The molds should be at least room temperature, but they can be preheated to 50 degrees for easier mold removal.
    • It is recommended to burn the candle no earlier than 48 hours after pouring.
    • Candle wax should not be heated above 85 °C, as this will impair the wax's solidification, scent and color absorption properties. During solidification, significant temperature drops and drafts should be avoided. The optimal solidification temperature is approximately 25 degrees.

Wick selection

When making a larger quantity of candles, we definitely recommend testing the candles to find the best wick thickness. The most difficult thing is to find a suitable wick for candles with a variable diameter, such as a ball, cone, or special-shaped candles. The candle will burn differently at different diameter stages.

If you use a wick that is too thick, the candle will start to drip, and if you use a wick that is too thin, the candle will burn out. The wick thicknesses below are a guide:

Stabilo 8 for candles with a diameter of 3.5-4 cm.

Stabilo 14 for candles with a diameter of 4.5-5.5 cm.

Stabilo 16 for candles with a diameter of 5-6 cm.

Stabilo 18 for candles with a diameter of 5.5-6.5 cm.

Stabilo 20 for candles with a diameter of 6-7 cm.

For Stabilo 24 candles with a diameter of 6.5-7.5 cm.

When choosing a wick, it is worth considering that a large amount of coloring or fragrance will affect the burning properties of the candle. A candle may require a thicker wick than an unscented and colorless candle. Different fragrance oils may behave differently in a candle.
