Carrot Oil Soap

1 Liked

Yellow cocoa butter and orange carrot oil give the soap a sunny yellow color.

Soap properties:

Hardness: hard
Cleaning properties: very good cleaning properties
Conditioning properties: moderate
Soap foam: creamy foam

You need:

  • 71 g lye
  • 160 g water
  • 150 g cocoa butter
  • 150 g coconut oil
  • 125 g olive oil
  • 75 g carrot oil
  • 10-15 ml of essential oil or fragrance oil

Tools
Gloves, goggles, and respirator for safe handling of lye
stick blender
500 ml heat-resistant container for mixing lye
250 ml container for weighing the lye
spoons
2-3 l glass or plastic bowl or stainless steel pot for melting fats and mixing soap batter
soap mold

Preparation time
1 hour + 3-4 weeks.

Quantity
7 medium soaps (total about 700 g of soap)

Preparation

Weigh the water into a 500 ml container. Measure the coconut oil and cocoa butter into a bowl where they can be melted.

Gradually pour the lye into the water, stirring constantly with a spoon. NOTE! ALWAYS POUR LYE IN WATER, NOT THE OTHERWISE! Stir until the lye granules are dissolved.
Heat the fats on the stove or in the microwave until the coconut oil and cocoa butter have melted. Add olive oil and carrot oil. Allow the lye solution and oil mixture to cool, until the temperature drops below 50 degrees.
Slowly pour the lye into the oil mix. Stick blend until soap is about the thickness of pancake batter.
Mix the fragrance oil or essential oil into soap. Pour into a mold. Cover the soap with cling film. This prevents the formation of a white layer on the surface of the soap.
If the soap is solid enough the next day, you can remove the soap from the mold. Let the soap cure for 3-4 weeks.
Note! This recipe uses carrot oil made from sunflower oil. If another base oil has been used in the carrot oil, the amount of lye must be checked.
